Edinburgh City and food!

WARNING: PHOTO HEAVY POST

You have been warned :P This post is about all the love buildings I saw and all the lovely food I ate over the weekend! Sorry if this makes you want to go to Edinburgh (I'll come with you!) and/or makes you hungry!!

First off, a bit of food pron for you! We stayed in the Holiday Inn, which is literally, right next to the zoo, like, you walk out of the reception, turn left, and walk into the zoo close!! The hotel has this really nice oriental restaurant that served delicious food, while over looking the Chinese restaurant across the road, haha! But the food was genuinely delicious, ohm nom nom!

View out the window, plus a reflection of the pretty inside!

Prawn crackers and sweet chilli sauce for pre!

Prawn won tons and Thai fish cakes for starter, nom!

Kung Po Prawns with egg fried rice for main! My mum had Massaman chicken curry with fragrant rice!
After all that, I was so stuffed, I didn't stop feeling sick for a few hours, though I still managed to eat a fortune cookie, whoop! I love fortune cookies!! Though in the morning I did manage to take advantage of the breakfast buffet by having toast and jam, a butter croissant and frosties with plenty of juice! Sunday morning we woke up to this:
Snow!
It didn't last though, and in the course of walking about, it snowed, rained, sleeted and hailed!! Talk about mix up of weather! Make up your mind! Turns out Sunday was also the Scotland VS Ireland game, at the stadium just down the road!! So breakfast was packed haha, and traffic was a pain getting into town, but it wasn't too bad and I got a photo of Murryfields!

Place of muscular men wrestling each other in mud <3 td="">
If you haven't been to Edinburgh, and you love beautiful buildings, YOU HAVE TO GO. I need to go again to explore more and take ALL THE PHOTOS!! I didn't get a chance to go to old town, which will be done next! We didn't have time to actually GO to the castle, so that is to be done next time too! Here are some photos of pretty buildings and things!

St Cuthberts church

Edinburgh Castle!

Close up!

My favourite photo of the day <3 td="">
I adore that last photo, it just came out so well for a phone photo *blubs with happiness* The first castle photo is also my cover photo, because the castle is awesome and I want to go there!
I am warning you now, you will need energy walking up and down all the hills and stairs in Edinburgh, and in the zoo, so before going to the airport, it was time for a toilet break and cake!
Excuse the finger...ALL THE CAKE
Look at all that cake, so much choice!! Limited choice in the end due to Lent, and not being able to eat chocolate, haha! I went for the Strawberry cheesecake cupcake and a peppermint tea to tide me by till dinner! This place was IN A WATERSTONES. IF THERE IS ONE REASON TO GO BACK, IT IS THIS WATERSTONES

AND TO TRY ALL THE YUMMY CAKE
We ate dinner at the airport, which was a very filling fish and chips with peas and onion rings! Then it was a quick hour and a bit flight, and boom, back in Hampshire and home again!

Edinburgh was so good, I can't wait to go back again! Need to save up so I can, I want to go to the zoo, the castle, old town, Waterstones, EVERY WHERE

Do you want to go to Edinburgh (take me with you *clings to your legs*)?

STAY BEAUTIFUL and thanks for reading!

Food Diary: Monday Noms!

Hey guys!! I thought in order to get me out of my 'Octobers' and get me blogging again I'd try to do daily food diaries (plus if I remember to take photos it might help my diet -_-' ) So here is the first one! I only got three photos cause dinner smelt so good I was eating it before I realised...and you don't need to know about that half a pack of ASDA cookies I consumed...hurrrr

BREAKFAST:
I was really hungry and decided to indulge in a big breakfast. It was weird, but oh so delicious and in my opinion, the best way to start Monday! Small tin of baked beans plus two bubble and squeak veggie sausages with mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top!

MID MORNING SNACK:
Handful of chilli coated peanuts and a glass of squash (I drink this glass full of water, but sometimes I indulge in squash)

LUNCH:
For some reason I fancied some sort of leafy salad concoction for lunch (probably my body drowning in carbs going NO MORE PLEASE) so I went for a peppery salad bag (half), feta cheese, mozzarella sprinkles and a hard boiled eggy. Plus a small squeeze of mayo. It was delicious. And cheesy

For my very delicious dinner, I made fried potato slices with garlic and red onion (and more cheese. I am cheese obsessed) loads of peas and battered fish fillets. Diet...whut?

TOMORROW....I shall be more successful, I swear *clutches the air and falls to knees*

Festival Guide: FOOD

Today will we be talking about what kinds of food you should pre-pack for taking too festivals, since damn, dem festival food stalls can be pricey! £4 for chips and gravy. FOUR POUND. WHAT IS LIFE.

Anywaysssss, when going to festivals, if you are camping over, you should always take food supplies. With all the excitement of Reading, I wasn’t terribly hungry most of the time, but I still made sure I ate some food to keep me going. You must do this too!

1) TINS. TINS OF EVERYTHING (and a can opener)

Yes, tins are the most important thing, apart from cutlery, you could take to a festival food wise. By tins, I mean spaghetti hoops, baked beans, ravioli, beef wellington, ANYTHING that you can cook in a tin, get it. I even took a tin of sweetcorn for a healthy kick on one of the days. TINS. They might be heavy on the way in but you will praise how easy they are to chuck on a fire or BBQ (remember your tongs too) and heat up. PLEASE REMEMBER TO OPEN THE TIN BEFORE YOU COOK IT. IT WILL EXPLODE OTHERWISE. And once it’s cooked, voila, you have a meal in a tin. Sorted.
I suggest you aim for two meal tins a day (one for breakfast, one for dinner!)

2) CEREAL BARS/MINI CEREAL BOXES

Brilliant idea. My friend did this. I wish I had done it. Having one of these in the morning, either a bar or a box, is a great bit of dry food added to your breakfast, along with the tin of food. Plus, with cereal bars you can pop one in your bag if you get peckish in the arena!

!ALTERNATIVE! ~ Alternatively, if you want a sugar rush, you can also have those multibuy chocolate bar packs but they might melt, so be warned!

3) BREAD

If you want to take bread with you, I suggest you freeze it first in resealable bags, 2-3 slices per bag. They will last a lot longer and it will be a lot more organised than buying a loaf the night before and having it get a bit squished and end up not using it...
ALSO take some sort of skewers or buy them when you get there so you can toast bread, sausages, marshmallows, over the fire.

4) DRIED FRUIT

If you want to take fruit with you I’d highly suggest dried fruit. You can get small packets too pop in your food bad, and also in your arena bag if you want. I think next year I am going to follow my own advice and take some dried fruit. You can also take fruit in a tin, but I think dried fruit is easier (and lighter. Remember you have to potentially carry this lot too your campsite!)

5) LIQUIDS

I will be covering all the liquids from alcohol to water here. It’s easier to sum it up in one paragraph! With water, I suggest you take an EMPTY two litre bottle with you and fill it up on site and pop it in your tent AND ALWAYS KEEP IT FILLED. Fill it up every evening or something. One thing I was always needing was water, especially in the morning. If you fill it up in the evenings, you will have some water in the mornings when your mouth is dry, and to brush your teeth with. It might get a little warm in your tent but what can you do? As long as you are hydrated, that is what matters!
With alcohol, I recommend you definitely decant it into a plastic bottle, as camp sites don’t often let glass bottles on site. If you DO decant it into a plastic bottle, I implore you to label it somehow. Vodka and water can look very similar in a plastic bottle. VERY SIMILAR.
Alternative liquids to take; juice in cartons (please don’t buy them from the fridge. Buy them from the shelf!) and UHT milk from the shelves. Don’t take anything that you have bought refrigerated!

  • You can buy food in nearby supermarkets (or on site supermarkets, but a nearby Tesco’s will be cheaper) when you get there, but I suggest packing a majority of your food before you go so you don’t have to worry about it when you get there!
  • There is a multitude of stalls within the arena, but if you are like I was, then you won’t even get hungry because you will be too busy enjoying yourself!
  • Make sure you definitely have breakfast! Have a tin of something, some bread and a cereal bar/cereal box.
  • REMEMBER TO TAKE DISPOSABLE BBQS. If you are going as a group, discuss how many each you will take. We were a group of six, and we used about two per day, cooking things on our fire in the evenings.
  • In reference to fires, you can often find firewood being sold on site, or on the way to the local supermarket (it was £1 cheaper outside).
  • Remember things like matches/lighters, tongs (for taking things on and off fires and BBQs), can openers, plastic cutlery, paper plates (if you really want, we didn’t use any) and skewers.

Okay, that’s everything to do with food! If you have any questions, please ask! I am a festival newbie, so I might not know everything, but this is what I learned from my experience this year at Reading!

WEIGHT RESTART: Week 1 Day 1

Hey beautiful! How you doing today?

Yes, we are back to my weight loss diaries! Finally! Good to be back! I have been away due to being with the boyfie and things, and last week I was just not feeling the blogging vibe, but I have weighed myself today and feeling good!

So lets start off with some facts and measurements! I know its been over a month since my last weigh in, but don't expect a massive difference, as I pig out when with the boyfriend, and also, I have had lots of take away chinese and general bad food in the past month!!

Weight:

13 stone 10 3/4 pounds/87.4 kilograms. That's a loss of 2 pounds/1 kilo! It's not much but I am super impressed and happy I haven't PUT ON weight to be honest! Considering I have had three chinese take aways in three weeks, I think not being over my last weigh in is impressive haha! If I hadn't had them, imagine how much more I would of lost!

Measurements:

  • Bust: 36 inches/91.4 cms ~ 1 inch/2.6 cms off! Whoop!
  • Waist: 32 inches/81 cms ~ 1 inch/3 cms off here too! Tiny waist here I come ;)
  • Hips: 46.5 inches/118 cms ~ 1.5 inches/6 cms off WOW, that is a bit of an impressive trim for me!

Exercise:

Not really any today, just a bit of walking to my friends house!

Food:

~ Skinny Sprinkles
~ Cranberry juice, whole meal toast, vitalite and honey
~ Green tea with lemon + sugar (less than one tea spoon)
~ Home made ginger biscuit
~ Quorn ham slice sarnie and muller rice strawberry
~ Coco Pops + sweets

The last bit was because I was at my friends and she gave me coco pops for dinner haha!! I didn't mind, nom nom nom!

So, lets get back on track with the weight loss! Have you been losing weight recently? Got any tips or hints I can use and share with other readers? Let me know!!

Kitty and Food (WARNING, NEAR NUDITY)

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS BODY SHOTS OF ME (it ain't pretty) SO IF YOU ARE ADVERSE TO FATTIES NUDE, DO NOT LOOK!!

Haha I warned you :P Well then, lets get on with this post then!! This is about how I have decided to try and turn my life around the REAL hard way!! Not even diets (as I am hopeless with diets, they don't like me and I don't like them). I will be trying to loose weight by simply doing what I should of been doing my entire life: eat properly, healthily and keep active!! Obviously sitting in front of my monitor up to 12 hours a day is NOT active so I need to drastically change this. Ontop of that, I snack on biscuits, chocolate and sweets!! So I am sitting on my big arse shoving food into my gob and not doing anything to burn it off!! Disgusting really. So I started this week to try and eat less crap and more healthy food, ie snacking on fruit rather than crap (that reminds me, veg too, I have carrots I wanna chop up for carrot sticks! No dip please) This means I will finally have to give up my kiddyness in buying kids cereals for breakfast and buy proper adult low fat ones with berries in them (I'm not complaining though, I bought some and it is YUMMY) Though I don't think I can ever eat Alpen. It smells like rabbit food!!

I have always been a chubby kid, and it slowly got worse as I ate my feelings and just ate out of boredom. In college, all I ate was crappy food, but the difference was that I didn't really eat anything else and my weight was up and down like a yo yo, one week loosing half a stone, the next putting it back on!! I lived off chocolate and red bulls basically, what a lovely healthy combo!! Now I am 22 I need to start looking after my body properly and the only way I can do that is healthy food and exercise! I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, I don't even eat red meat, only fish!! My probably is and always will be my snacking. My meals are pretty healthy I always have a good mix of protein veg and carbs its just the snacking!! Don't snack on crap kids unless you can work it off or you are lucky, like my boyfie, and don't put on weight!! Here is what snacking constantly all my life has done to my body:
Here are my stats:

Height: 5 foot 3 inches
Weight: 13 stone 2 pounds (appauling!!!)
BMI: 32.4 (OBESE)
Stomach: 40 inches
Bottom/Hips: 47 inches
Waist: 34 inches
One Thigh: 26 inches
One arm: 12 and a half inches

Pretty nasty right!! Thats what I get for just sitting on my arse and not doing anything!! I think my main problem is in inactivity as I eat fruit and veg a day and all the healthy stuff, just crap on top of it and no movement!! SO I am determined to get moving every day! From riding a bike, to doing an exercise video to just walking round window shopping (I am poor I need shoes!) just to get my out of the obese catagory at first then into healthy weight!! I have a lot of weight to shift but hopefully I will manage it with a healthy normal life style (no diets please! *fends off diets with a stick) and plenty of movement!!

As you have seen in previous blogs, I have been cycling so this is good, this week I have bike rode on Monday and walked round for a couple of hours round town and to the marina yesterday (you will see soon) and today another bike ride!! Not only is the movement good for me, but I get fresh air too!! Yay!

So I best be off now, I hope I didn't burn your eyes haha! I am going to make a healthy wholemeal sammich and then go for a bike ride with the boyfie and maybe some more footage!!

Anyways it was a fun day!! I love my family so I enjoyed hanging out with them. And the food is always good! NYR start tommorrow though so bubye junk food *cries and flails* But it was fun pigging out on pizza slices and cheese and crisps and profiteroles!! Yummy yummy!! We just sit or stand around and talk to each other (how many families do that nowadays?)while the kids played around us! My two little cousins Benny and Bannor are so cute! Bannor decided my dress was a good place for a tent! They are only three XD

Sunday was boring so I decided to attack my room! I was meant to be doing homework, but I had pictures to work on and a room to tidy and ironing and washing T_T I need to start getting up early *sigh* Here is my room at the end of the day, still looks kinda messy cause of my washing drying but the bed is tidy and made with fresh sheets (I like doing it every Sunday fresh sheets fresh PJs!)

Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Are DULL xD

Ahhh Tuesdays. The day after Bank Holiday and I am still knackered from yesterdays walking! Probably sunburn making me a bit weak as well xD

Its the last day of being with my bf booooooooo and tomorrow I have to go back home D: I will miss my boyfriend terribly as I won’t see him again till maybe October time since I start college in September!!

He had to get up real early to go to the JC today and I just stayed in bed. He got back about 10am and just jumped straight back in bed with me and we stayed in bed snuggling till 1pm. It was niiice but the sun had gone in by the time we got up :( Boooo!

After getting dressed and makeuped, we left to walk down the road to Fulton Foods to buy some strawberry creams (YUM) a big bag of crisps and some coke. Its really cheap in there thats why we like it. Being a 20 minute walk, on the way back, it had to rain, of course, half way through and we got a bit damp :/ Drying off a bit now as we sit here relaxing and watching my boyfriend make a video out of some footage from yesterday!

And on to Wednesday....

DAMN BUS

Broke down >_< Sat on bloody Goole station for an hour and a half and it was cold and there were CREEPY PEOPLE then I finally went back to my boyfriends and now I don’t mind so much *huggles warm boyfriend* The rain is pouuuuuring down though I hope it doesn’t flood, I need to get home for Friday!
