Reading Festival: It was awesome!!

Last weekend I attended my first festival in my 24 years of living. How I have gone this long without attending one, I do not know (lack of money probably) but I know now I WILL NOT GO ANOTHER YEAR WITH OUT ONE. That and not really attending live gigs? HOW HAVE I LIVED.

Reading Festival 2012 was an amazing experience for me. I arrived on the Thursday to my tent already set up by my friends, who arrived on the Wednesday. There was six of us and three tents, though my tent ended up being a food storage tent and I took over the empty compartment of my friends tent as they had no choice but to bring one of those big tents with three compartments (their normal one had lost a pole). I was grateful for this though as it was my first time properly camping and it was better to be in a tent with people!

Arriving Thursday morning, I spent the day chilling out with my friends (and perhaps getting a little bit drunk by 2pm on sidekick and then vodka) and experienced my first camp fire (no marshmallows though. Next time!) No gigs or music was on on Thursday, so we did spend the day at our little camp site, but it was nice, I loved having our own little bubble. The atmosphere and the camp fire and the lights of the camp site, it was all so lovely I can’t wait to do it again! I officially love camping!

Friday is when the excitement for the live music started! After an awful nights sleep (remember your blow up mattress kids) I didn’t actually feel tired as I was too excited!! We had some ASDA price tins of spaghetti and bread for breakfast on disposable BBQs and when we were all ready, we headed too the arena!! I was so excited!! The main stage was huge and it was amazing too see all the stalls of food and the different tents!! The weekend started with Deaf Havana (who I hadn’t really heard of but were really good!) and I soon got into the flow of the music, making my way to the front of the main stage for one of my favourite bands, You Me At Six. If you want to be at the front of the main stage for a band then you must be there early.

TIP: IF YOU ARE NEW TOO FRONT OF THE CROWD AT GIGS, FIND A BARRIER AND STICK TOO IT.

It was my first time fighting to the front and the band before YMAS was a band called Crystal  Castles...I hadn’t heard of them before. I wish I had because then I would of stayed near the barrier from  the beginning! Within seconds of them starting, the crowd heaved, sending a lot of us into each other in a wave of scary-ness. Three waves later, and an entire row of us were floored, but luckily there is a very friendly atmosphere at festivals and everyone helps everyone else up so no harm was done. It was pretty scary and I decided then that I should move out of this area, and managed to shuffle too the side a little and to the front barrier. That was my only scary experience of the festival!! You Me At Six were amazing and I completely forgot about the scary experience earlier!! We also saw Tom Delonge perform with his band Angels and Airwaves which was awesome!!

Saturday was a surreal start in the arena. The ‘secret’ Green Day gig started earlier than we thought and we didn’t get in the NME tent to watch them at first, since there were security guards and barriers up at all the through ways too it. We accepted this and sat down to watch on the big screens. And then they cut the big screens without warning. THIS IS MY FIRST FESTIVAL. I DO NOT TAKE THIS FROM ANYONE. I informed my friends I would meet them later and legged it to the nearest barrier as people booed. I wasn’t the only one and after about 5 minutes there was a count down. At the end of the count down we ran, the metal barriers dragged out of our way and we made it into the tent! I got to see Green Day live and in person!! Amazing experience (yes, that word is being used a lot in this post) and well worth the naughtiness of charging the barriers ;)

Billy Talent and Feeder were the other highlights of the Saturday and I will say, I think I thoroughly enjoyed the Billy Talent gig the most out of all the gigs I attended over the weekend!

Sunday was an epic day, with All Time Low (who I have now fallen in love with), Bullet for my Valentine, Foo Fighters and Less Than Jake. The weekend went so quickly and I was surprised that it was Sunday already!! Sunday was one of the only days me and Becky risked the camp site toilets (the other being Thursday) and they were disgusting. I was glad I only used them twice! The arena toilets were far nicer, flushable and with toilet paper. In the mornings, us girls actually had a ‘pee cup’ in which we peed if we were at the camp site, in the privacy of our tent. Worked a treat and much cleaner than those campsite toilets...

We left Sunday night after the Arena closed and managed to get home in good time, arriving back by half 1 Monday morning, which gave me all Monday to recover, and bathe. Sweet sweet bathing. We didn’t shower once, but we had baby wipe baths and on the Saturday, me and Becky performed a bottle wash on our hair and underarms at the campsite, so we felt fresher after that!

My experience at Reading Festival was amazing and I can’t wait to see the line ups for next years festivals so I can decide which one I want to attend!! Possible Reading again!! It was so awesome and I can’t wait to attend another festival!! Till then, I will be attending live gigs, planning already to go too a Billy Talent gig in November!!

The full line up that I saw was: Deaf Havana, Angels and Airwaves, Crystal Castles, You Me At Six, Green Day, Twin Atlantic, Enter Shikari, Billy Talent, The Vaccines, Mastodon, The Cribs, Feeder, Gaslight Anthem, All Time Low, Bullet for My Valentine, Kaiser Chiefs, Foo Fights and finished with Less Than Jake

I will be doing a ‘Festival Guide’ series of posts soon, and revisit them festival time next year!! So look out for them! If you have any questions that I might be able to answer  during the fesitval guide posts please ask them in the comments!!

Note: All photos were taken either by me or by my friends!

Simple Sunday and Mostly Monday

Time for a catch up! Sunday and Monday were pretty chill days, with a few bits of hecticness thrown in!

Sunday ~
Sunday's are my chill out days and I like to start the day (or sometimes end it) with a lovely long bubble bath, filled with Lush bath products!!
Lotsa bubblleessss
Relaxing bath is not complete with out cup of tea and a book!
I like to paint my toe nails on Sundays, so I did a proper pedicure! I soaked my feet in a warm bowl, used a pumice stone on them, moisturised them and then painted my toe nails! I used those toe separators so I didn't get my toes messy, as sometimes they stick together and I get nail polish on my skin!
Messy table not optional for pedicure
Blue tootsies!
I need to redo the tips today though, because I went swimming Monday LE SIGH. Why can't they make a chlorine proof nail polish D:
I also spent the day colouring in the picture I was working on:

Every fortnight, there is a quiz night near my dads place and we always go if I am at his place. We don't aim to win, more to have a good time and see my Aunty Jane!
I usually have to write!! I don't mind though, sometimes I know the answers, but other teams know more!! We did end up winning the Bonus round though, which wasn't too bad!! Its always a high light of the weekend, going to the quiz!!

Monday ~

Monday started up with finishing off my picture (finally)
I then met up with my friend for swimming!! I like to go swimming once a week if I can, and hopefully, one day, I will pay for a month!! Then I can go swimming as much as I like all month!!
After swimming, we sat outside and had some lunch, enjoying the warm day!
My friend Zara comes with me to swimming a few times, she enjoys the couple of hours doing it, even if the swimming pool is full (like it was yesterday) of kids!
That's the swimming pool behind Zara!
After lunch, Zara had to leave, so I ended up staying and enjoying some time reading my book and enjoying the weather!
After I got home, since I was in the drawing mood again, I decided to draw something else, an entry for a competition on deviant art! It only took me the afternoon and evening to complete, so its a bit scruffy;
Line art and beginning of colouring
Finished image!
It's meant to be a God of Light, in the form of a Griffin! It was fun drawing something I don't usually draw and I enjoyed it, and also it shows I can finish a drawing in a day haha!!

Any ways, that was what I did on Sunday and Monday, not much, but I enjoy my quiet life style!! See you tomorrow!

The Week in Pictures 8-14/8/2011

Time for the week in pictures!! I only have pictures from six days, unfortunately! But enjoy :D A day per picture!!

Tuesday ~
Invaded my empty house (now not empty since my mum got back today) for some things I had forgotten! I popped in because I had the Doctors near there Tuesday, about my asthma.

Wednesday ~
Went to the cinema with my friend today, and we saw these big posters for a new film starring DAVID TENNANT YAAAAAY. Its called Fright Night and its a remake, can't wait to see it!!

Thursday ~
Had my friends round my dads flat and we watched films, made face masks from fruit and yoghurt and I did their nails!! Was a fun day. As you can see THIS IS MA FILM WATCHIN' FAYCE

Friday ~

Wow, I finally started on some art work LOL I am so bad with my art work at the moment, I never do any drawing! But I was determined on Friday to draw something! So I whipped this up :D Hoping to finish this tonight(Sunday)

Saturday~
On Saturday I went to Emsworth with my dad! You can see the blog post about this here!

Sunday ~
Sunday means quiz night!! We won the bonus, but lost the overall quiz!! Boooo! Won £8 though, so that's okay!

And that's my week, see you next week!! Tune in tomorrow for another 'On the Cheap'

Our Mini Road Trip

Hellooo
Yesterday my friend came to my house in her little red car and picked me up for a drive around!! Rachel is really cute and small (smaller than me, I am 5 foot 3!) so its funny seeing her drive a car!!
Eyyy
Normally she is crazy and hyper like me, and here she is proving that it my room haha!! She is such a poseur sometimes!! But in the car she is a brilliant driver, not a serious one, but she is very good and calms down a bit so I felt totally safe!! Shes only been driving properly since she passed her test in July and she drives all the time!!
Quite soon after this photo was taken, she parked, then ran out the car and pressed herself up against our friends window with a squeal haha!! She is so crazy!! I love her muchly though haha!!
This is my road (but not my house :P)
We went for a little drive round my village first, then went to pick up some chicken feed our friend got for Rachel's families chickens. She has a few rescued battery hens, who look a bit straggly but are now extremely well looked after!! Once we had finish our trip round my village, we hopped onto the motorway and drove to Farlington, where Rachel lives. We dropped off her chicken feed then drove to Drayton to Demi's house!! I haven't seen Demi since July so I was excited to see her!!
All my friends are poseurs
Here she is posing in her kitchen!! We are three very giggly girls and we are always posing for pictures and laughing about random things!!
And we cool!!
As I said, poseurs!! After nomming on chocolate swiss roll and messing about on the PC for a bit, we poured back into the car and went into Cosham to meet Demi's new boyfriend! But he hadn't finished college yet so we wandered around a bit first and visited where Rachel works, Alworths. I was looking for a new sketchbook albiet a cheap one but they didn't have any decent ones :( There was this awesome dragon though!
Shorties!!
We messed around on a bench by the train station next, waiting for Blaize, because he was being a slow coach and was late and we were bored!! Demi kept singing random songs and kept getting them stuck in my head!! Once Blaize had actually arrived, we went back to Demi's to watch a film as there wasn't really anything else to do as Rachel's petrol was running out and she didn't have money for more yet. We ended up watching Hot Fuzz!
Brilliant film
Love that film, Simon Pegg is so funny, I love Shaun of the Dead too!!
Photo rape. Turned around and FLASH Rachel had taken a pic!!
Rachel posing on the floor
About five O clock, Rachel wanted to go home so she was back in time for tea so we left before the movie ended :( Leaving Demi alone with Blaize ;D. I bought cheesecake when I got back and then went to my dads of an evening in front of the tv with my cheesecake and my magazines!! Bliss day!!

Sorry it seems a bit rushed, have to go out to meet my friend!! Blog post tomorrow for that ;D

Fridays Post with shoes, ASDA and Toads!!

Hello ladies!! I hope you had a good weekend!! I did, it was especially nice warm weather! On Friday it was cloudy but it was warm, so warm I didn't need the jeans I was going to wear so I ended up going out like this:
Dress from Peacocks (I think), Cardigan from Select, Brown belt from Primarni (I think)
In the morning my boyfriends cats greet me as I am the first up and they are hungry!! His mum usually feeds them in the morning but if they are particulary hungry and yelling for food, I will feed them!!

This is Lolli (so named by boyfies little sister (Lollipop)

This is Cushca or Cush for short (No photos please is what shes saying haha!)
Both cats are very pretty I think and I adore them to bits!! Lolli is just coming up to three years and Cushca is a year and a half, they are Mother and Daughter, the father was a cat called Cobe but because he isnt neutered, he keeps running away!! He came back for a day last week looking all scruffy and matted but we couldn't keep him in long enough to get him sorted and he hasn't come back again!! He is a black long haired cat so he needs brushing and stuff! As you can see Cush has Lolli's fur patterning, but takes after Cobe in body shape and face shape and the long coat!!
I got my AS Results Friday as well but I only got two C's so the less said about that the better haha!!

Little sister with Lolli, she just got up!

When my boyfie got home, he got ready and then we went into town!! On the bus of course, I know the buses in Hull like I know the buses in Portsmouth!! We passed this quaint little shop that told dolls houses and all the little bits to go with it!
I want a Dolls House D:

He wouldn't let me take a picture of him so I took a sneaky one:
Lovely angle 8D

Once we were in town I decided to check out New Look for some shoes I wanted. Not only did they have the ones I wanted they had BETTER ONES that were a fiver more but stuff it, its winter shoes!! I shall show you them shoes later!! After looking around the shops, we walked to our friends house (which kinda too like half an hour) and on the way I got a picture with one of the 'Larkin with Toads' project!
Punkphibian!!

Also, check out this cool burnt out building! Its a shame they put a massive sky advert infront of it >:(
When  we met up with one of our friends who had walked up to meet us, we went to get something to eat as we hadn't had any lunch! We went in to subway but I don't like it AND it was sweltering in there, so we left our friend and went to the chippy next door! The subway our friend got was the Spicy Italian and I swear it was just all meat!!
Our friend checking out the menu
A big meat filled (squashed) sub!
The chippy ~ Pacific Catch
Mmmmm fish with chips and gravy!!
I always get chips with gravy when I am up north as you don't get it down south for some weird reason (cause souther chippies suck?) Its soooo nice, the best thing to go with chips EVER!!
On the way I saw this sign:
Surely thats advertising!
We got to our friends house and I finished off my lunch before telling our other friend to let his dog out!! The poor thing has just had his balls chopped off and had a big cone, but that didnt stop him jumping all over us!
Boyfie is mauled
He is such a cutey though, but his nails don't half need trimming! They are sharp and I was left with scratches on my legs! I will let him off though:
Can't stay mad at this face!

The friends have a car so we all proceeded to go to ASDA (Friday's is pay day and shopping day, me and the boyfie always go shopping Friday both food and other)
Just incase you don't know what ASDA looks like hur hur hur
YAY FOR 24 HOUR cause by the time we got there it was like half seven!! It may look forbodingly cloudy but it was still warm!!
£55's worth of shopping that is! Just for me and the boyfie! I should of taken it after our friend opened the boot, there was NO room with their shopping already in there!
We then proceeded to cross the road and drive to McDonalds, where our friends bought large meals (they are fatties haha) and me and my boyfie got a Mars milkshake between us (because I wanted to try it). We then went to our friends 'spot of shame' where they eat their McDonalds, rather than in the resturant (which was packed) or in the carpark (where the boyfie proceeded to make one of our friends drop his glass!) I was taking pictures with my flash and one of our friends thought it was lightning and proceeded to stick his head out the window to watch for more. I thought he was joking at first but when we realised he was being serious we all burst out laughing!!
Greedy so and sos
The face of embarrasment. No, there was no lightning only a southerner with a camera!
Our friends arn't scary at all...honest!
This big scary box thing was though, kept flapping in the wind
After they finished their McDonalds, they drove us home where we sat in the boyfies room and laughed about stuff for about half an hour and I put on my new shoes and took pictures!! They are my Autumn/Winter shoes!! Fake suade and fleece lining mmmmm gonna be warm!
Mine and our friends feet
You can have them down like this (they have poppers to keep the sides down)
Or done up like this!

I love these shoes so much and the heel is chunky and not to high so they are comfy to walk in!! The fleece lining is soft and warm so I hope these will last me through the winter months!!

Okay thats enough of our Friday and of picture spam, need to do the weekend blog!!
